Lecce boss Luigi De Canio believes his side's valuable point against Milan is a positive step in the right direction, helping to avoid the relegation battle.

The Giallorossi boss says he is calm and confident the Southern Italian side can avoid the drop, despite currently sittingin 18th place.

"Our first reaction after Ibrahimovic's goal was a state of shock," De Canio told Sky Sport after the match. "Then, we started to put our heads down and work hard, wanting to level the score.

"We are in a relegation battle, but the team is calm. We were able to get a point against Milan, which is a positive for us, pointing the side in the right direction.

"The four points against two of the top three teams is fruits of the hard work the team has gone through over the past six months. I want my side to play with this mentality all the time, and am very satisfied of their performance," concluded De Canio.
