Real Madrid General Director Jorge Valdano: We Are Searching For A Striker

General director Jorge Valdano admits Real Madrid are actively searching for a new striker in the current transfer window.
Real Madrid general director Jorge Valdano has admitted that the club are actively in the hunt to land a striker on a short-term deal in the current transfer window.

Los Blancos currently only have one recognised striker in the form of Karim Benzema, due to the back injury suffered by regular front man Gonzalo Higuain.

Addressing the media after Thursday’s 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, Valdano said that it was their intention to enquire across Europe for an attacking solution for the next six months.

He remarked: “We are exploring the market, because the uncertainty regarding Gonzalo Higuain has been resolved. We want to see if we can get a player for six months who can help us.

“There are many names being said, but I do not want to go into detail. But it is true that we are looking for a number nine. We are looking for a striker who can lend a hand for six months.”

Names linked with a move to Real Madrid include Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Hercules duo Nelson Valdez and David Trezeguet, and Bayern Munich’s Miroslav Klose.
