Sevilla Striker Alvaro Negredo Feel Espanyol Have Been A 'Revelation' This Season

Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo feels Saturday’s opponents, Espanyol, have been one of the surprises of the Primera Division season so far.

The former Real Madrid striker today looked forward to the clash with the Blanc I Blau at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, as the first round of La Liga fixtures comes to an end.

Negredo stated that he knows it will be difficult to overcome the Champions League challengers, but that the match is also hugely important for his club’s aspirations, too.

He claimed: “They have been the revelation of this season, after several seasons of struggling to avoid relegation and even with [striker Pablo] Osvaldo injured, they will make things difficult because they have a positive dynamic.

“We must stay focused. It is true that we are making mistakes on the pitch, but we will correct the errors and improve the team’s position by getting more wins.”

Negredo also spoke of his personal performance in the 3-3 Copa del Rey draw with Villarreal, where he bagged two goals, saying: “It is always important to score, and they left the tie wide open for us. Hopefully, I can continue in this vein and score many more.”
